Sousou no Frieren

During their decade-long quest to defeat the Demon King, the members of the hero's party—Himmel himself, the priest Heiter, the dwarf warrior Eisen, and the elven mage Frieren—forge bonds through adventures and battles, creating unforgettable precious memories for most of them.

However, the time that Frieren spends with her comrades is equivalent to merely a fraction of her life, which has lasted over a thousand years. When the party disbands after their victory, Frieren casually returns to her "usual" routine of collecting spells across the continent. Due to her different sense of time, she seemingly holds no strong feelings toward the experiences she went through.

As the years pass, Frieren gradually realizes how her days in the hero's party truly impacted her. Witnessing the deaths of two of her former companions, Frieren begins to regret having taken their presence for granted; she vows to better understand humans and create real personal connections. Although the story of that once memorable journey has long ended, a new tale is about to begin.

Those who says this anime was boring are just trolls, especially those who loves to watch overlord (which is also one of my favorite anime) and steins Gate

... "Time was precious and ruthless, so spend the time you have with someone precious"

I don't know why people can hate this series, perhaps they're expecting an anime like jujutsu kaisen or solo leveling


O think, The only i can't get along with is the producer obsession with armpit and feet. Lmao

I hope stark will have more screen time, because both of the anime and the manga doesn't explain anything about stark's training.

Mixed Feelings

Frieren is a series that can be exhilarating at times but also downright boring.

The series is about an autistic elf in a fantasy setting that has completed her journey with her companions to defeat the demon king. Since she is an elf and autistic, the concept of time is different for her than to her companions that have a much smaller lifespan. When her human friend dies she starts to realize that she barely knew him and regrets that she didn't spend more time with him. At the recommendations of one of her other companions she will travel once more towards the demon king's castle ... to speak to the soul of her deceased friend. Meanwhile she takes on the mantle of mentor and trains a human girl in her way of wielding magic and mana and eventually she also adds a beta male warrior in the mix.

There are some points in the anime that are really exciting. Good action combined with good animation but often the anime is quite slow and nothing of note really happens. They even have a priest among them for a episode or 3 but he does nothing of value. Some arcs also take up a lot of time and considering a second season is underway it's no spoiler to say that there is no resolution to this whole thing.

I do have to say I enjoy Frieren's character. She is quite the autist and never understood that her human companion was completely smitten with her. Her perception of time is also different as she already lived over a thousand years by now, making her sometimes cold towards other races which lifespans don't even come close to hers. Fortunately she does open up more and more as the show goes on and it's clear the has a playful and cute side to her. It's clear she is the star of her own series as there are tons of flashbacks of her journey to fight against the Demon King. Her current companions are less notable though. Her apprentice barely has any personality aside from pouting and the warrior is a beta male with the strength of an armada for some reason. That joke gets old very quick.

I know this anime is very loved and is still one of the highest rated anime on MAL. Unfortunately I think the series is quite flawed and commits the worst sin of all: being boring more often than not. Still there is a good foundation to build upon with a second season so I hope it has more impactful action like the demon arc in the first season.

Please just get it off the first place on ranked, it's not that deep or entertaining. It's just a mid fantasy, that's it. Plot is simple, characters are simple, OST is generic, everything is just mid. Don't overhype this.

Even though I would put this review as 'Mixed Feelings', I just don't want this anime to ruin the rankings of such titles as Fullmetal Alchemist, Attack on Titan, Naruto etc. It's just nowhere near the classic.

I don't want this anime to be an entry for a newbie that just discovered anime world and decides to watch Frieren as their first anime. Most likely ... than not they would just fall asleep from boredom in the middle of the series and never come back to anime again.

The only aspect that actually stands out is animation/art which is on a good level. This anime is very slow-paced, so I would say it's for those connoisseurs of the genre that like exactly this kind of setting, this kind of humor (quite bad and misplaced imo) and this kind of narrative overall. But it's in no way a must-watch title that offers anything to digest with the brains apart from the 'perception of time' theme.

I know this review will get lot's of negative reactions but it's my genuine opinion month after completing watching the title.
