@__Beatrice__ I might have forgotten a lot of things in both animes, but I'm just gonna say this is cap lol. In what way does Monster have any of these better than AOT? Armin and Mikasa are equal to or better than Anna Liebert. As for side cast, AOT still takes it. No side character in Monster is better written than Reiner. Antagonist? You mean Johan? LMAO. What was the point of Johan again? Absolutely nothing. Just to show the audience that mentally unstable people can be manipulated. Worst part is that his so called "manipulation" isn't even impressive, as he's only done that to a former alcoholic and an abandoned child.
Main Dynamic? Also AOT. Eren underwent better significant change than Tenma.
Theme? AOT. Main theme? Still AOT. What was the theme of Monster again? Doesn't exist. The entire show is just Johan getting hyped as this untouchable god and monstrosity then we find out all that happened in the orphanage wasn't even about him but Anna. Bro was basically a siscon(Anna didn't tell you to do allat lol). As for AOT, the core message implies that humanity will never stop fighting one another, while this is something that has been told in other works before, at least the show has a theme it's trying to convey.
Dialogue and Monologue? Dunno about that. Don't remember any good dialogues/monologues in both shows.
Peaks? AOT and it's not even close. Season 1?, Season 3 part 1&2?, Season 4 part 1&2? I didn't see any moment in Monster that came close to that.
Depth? Monster takes it.
Complexity? Nothing really complex about Monster tbh. AOT is the type of show that you don't get if you watch it the first time. Till this day there are lots of things I don't understand in AOT, while Monster was basically just Tenma trying to kill Johan for nearly 74 episodes. AOT takes complexity relatively easy.
Symbolism? Johan symbolizes Hitler and a siscon. What else? AOT basically conveys what happens/happened/ is happening in real life till today. Is this a joke?
Parallels? There were no parallels in Monster and AOT.
Psychology? You're bringing that comparison knowing full well one is a psychological anime and the other isn't? That's like saying AOT has more action than Monster. No sh*t Sherlock. Totally different genres.
Philosophy? Monster didn't make me think and neither did AOT. AOT only made me think about plot twists that already happened or might've happened. Both aren't even philosophical anime(which is a rarity) so that's that.
Development? Hmmm? For the exception of Eva I saw no development in Monster. Tenma was already perfect since the first episode. When I mean by "perfect", I mean he had no glaring character flaws.
Conclusion? This is a dilemma. AOT had a bad ending for people that wanted a happy ending. As for Monster, I don't even know if that could be called an "ending". Johan, the monster that killed countless people literally makes it out of the story alive and without any proof of being a different person. Zero consequences for this actions. For all we know he might've gone back to killing or manipulating criminals to do his dirty work. That was a major issue in the show. As for AOT, I'd say Mikasa is a problem in that show. It felt like her entire character revolves around a single word: "Eren".
That aside, after watching Monster I legit had to ask myself: "What was the purpose of this show?" What was it trying to tell me? That people can be bad? I knew this since I was 5! I mean, it was good, but when you think about these glaring issues in the show it's hard to see why anyone would think Monster is on the same level than AOT, let alone better, without being bias.
So yeah, AOT is indeed better than Monster.
